GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop Variant Outperforms RTX 3090 Desktop GPU In Geekbench

Official Announcement of 3rd January During CES 2023.

A screenshot from an unknown gaming laptop was recently leaked, showing the performance of the mobile variant of the GeForce RTX 4090. The unknown laptop labeled X370SNx equipped with Intel Core i9 13900HX and a graphics card based on the ‘Ada Lovelace’ architecture was seen on Geekbench software.

The GeForce RTX 4090 mobile GPU specifications look identical to that of a desktop GeForce RTX 4080. Both the mobile GeForce RTX 4090 and desktop GeForce RTX 4080 come equipped with a total of 76 steaming processors with 9728 CUDA Cores.

Furthermore, both share the same AD103 GPU that features 16 GB of VRAM. The only difference being would be the speed at which the memory runs. So for the mobile variant of the GeForce RTX 4090, the memory would be GDDR6 instead of GDDR6X found on the desktop GeForce RTX 4080.

The Geekbench benchmark leak also shared the max boost frequency of the mobile GeForce RTX 4090. The mobile GeForce RTX 4090 would boost up to 2040 MHz, offering performance equal to 38.9 TFLOPs.

On paper, the mobile GeForce RTX 4090 looks impressive. Still, we would take results from an OpenGL API with a grain of salt because it does not always relate to real-world performance, which means that the GeForce RTX 4090 laptop variant might not be much faster than the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070Ti.

Nvidia is expected to make a few announcements next year at CES 2023 on 3rd January 2023. This includes the much-awaited GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and the GeForce RTX 40-series mobile GPUs.
