According to a report from Trendforce, the increase in the demand for graphics cards for ChatGPT in the next upgrade will benefit Nvidia. Nvidia is currently the largest manufacturer of AI-powered graphics cards in the market.
ChatGPT was expected to utilize the power of more than 10,000 – 20,000 graphics cards before, but now, with a new model, the AI-powered chatbot is expected to use much more.
The number of graphics cards needed to utilize ChatGPT’s latest model has now grown to 30,000 units and might also increase beyond that shortly, depending on the demand.
The estimated number of graphics cards needed to run ChatGPU’s new model for the future is based on Nvidia A10 GPU. The Nvidia A100 graphics card is currently the fastest AI-powered solution for the company, with 5 Petaflops of AI computing performance.
This number can also increase or decrease depending on the requirements of ChatGPT. An increase in the demand for AI-powered systems will also put a lot of stress on Nvidia, whether it wants to use gaming or AI-powered graphics cards in the future.
Furthermore, Nvidia is also heavily invested in using AI for its consumer cards. Nvidia also just launched its new AI feature called RTX Video Super Resolution, which upscales the resolution of videos on the internet and is currently supported on the RTX 30 and 40 series.
Aside from that, Nvidia is also using its tensor cores to bring AI-powered upscaling like DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 into games, providing similar or better visual fidelity than native resolution.
Whatever the case, Nvidia will benefit from the surge in demand for AI-powered solutions, and the need for Nvidia cards might exceed its overall supply in the coming months.
