Mortal Kombat is one of the biggest fighting game franchises of all time, best known for its violent and gory gameplay, iconic characters, and storyline. The series debuted in 1992 and has dominated the fighting genre ever since.

Mortal Kombat 11 was first released in 2019 and went on to receive several post-launch content updates with new characters, a story expansion, balance changes, and more.

According to the LinkedIn profile of a Marketing Manager at Warner Bros. Entertainment, the game has generated $500 million in profit.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the best-selling entry in the franchise, having sold 15 million copies. It is currently one of the selling fighting games of all time, right behind games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Mortal Kombat is well known for featuring characters from other video game and movie franchises. Mortal Kombat 11 features characters like Rambo, Robocop, and Spawn, while the series has previously had iconic characters like Kratos, Jason Voorhees, and more as playable characters.

These crossovers make the game appealing to fans of other franchises, contributing to higher sales. The game also received free enhancements for Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
