Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Shows Strong Sales At Launch

First solid Week of Sales!

The highly anticipated mid-range GPU in the RTX 40 series, the GeForce RTX 4070, is finally here. The GeForce RTX 4070 offers the same 12GB GDDR6X memory with a 192-bit interface as its Ti variant while improving upon Nvidia’s last-generation 30-series lineup with features such as third-generation RT cores and DLSS 3.

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 is the most affordable card in the RTX 40-series lineup, with an MSRP of $599, around $200 cheaper than its Ti variant, with just about a 20% reduction in performance.

After its launch, PC gamers and enthusiasts have been curious to see how the market reacts to Nvidia’s cheapest Ada Lovelace launch. Mindfactory, one of Germany’s largest PC parts stores, reports that the RTX 4070 has sold approximately 535 units in the first week of its launch.

The MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ventus 3X was the best-selling GPU. While the data covers a small sample size at a single retailer, it should provide a glimpse at the reception to the recent Nvidia launch.

The rest of the data shows that AMD sold 2,660 GPUs, 830 units more than Nvidia. This is not surprising, given the value proposition of RDNA 2 products after the prices fell below MSRP.

However, Nvidia’s recent success with the GeForce RTX 4070 might concern some. This could lead to permanently inflated prices across the entire product stack from Nvidia. In 2020, the GeForce RTX 3070 was priced at $500 and offered comparable performance to the previous last-generation flagship, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

However, the latest 70-series graphics card has seen a $100 price bump, while it can only offer performance similar to the GeForce RTX 3080, falling behind last-generation flagships like the GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 4070, however, offers benefits in terms of power efficiency. Despite a 200W TDP, the RTX 4070 delivers impressive performance for power usage. It is also $100 cheaper than the 3080, showcasing 1.8x more performance thanks to DLSS 3.0.

The GPU was previously rumored to be priced at an MSRP of $749; it was reduced to $599 to make it more appealing to customers. However, the price cut led to a potentially bade cooler, which could concern specific variants.

What are your thoughts on the GeForce RTX 4070? Are you going to buy it?
