All of us have observed how recently games have become increasingly memory intensive, to the point where graphics cards with 8GB of VRAM are insufficient.
We’ve discussed this multiple times because AMD planned to fight this problem by providing 16GB in the mid-range, and now we know that RX 7700 and RX 7800 XTX GPUs will arrive with 16GB of RAM in the summer of 2023.
A powerful PC does not always guarantee we can run programs and games with great fluidity. There are many factors to consider because we can have a great processor and graphics card but be limited by RAM.
The same can happen if the GPU VRAM is insufficient, causing FPS drops and sometimes even the game to crash, like in Resident Evil 4 Remake. While NVIDIA hasn’t made much headway, AMD will try to satisfy its gamers by offering more memory on its GPUs.
The exciting thing is that with the release of the W7800, MLID indicates that AMD will release an RX 7800 or an XT version based on it.
Remember that it did the same with the W6800 and the RX 6800 last generation. Thus, the supposed future RX 7800 would bring 70 CU ( 4,480 Stream Processors ), so they can cover any defect in the chip, as we remember that these GPUs are more trimmed than the high-end ones.
If we compare the Radeon Pro W6800 and the RX 6800, we can see that they share most of the specifications, with the same Navi 21 chip and the same memory speed and bandwidth, although, yes, half the VRAM.
Continuing MLID’s leaked details from the above video, expect a Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB to arrive for around $600. This would perform 10-20% slower than the Radeon RX 7900 XT, slightly better than the RX 6900 XT.
Following this, we would have an RX 7700 XTX for about $450, and in the same way, this would bring that long-awaited 16 GB of VRAM to play the latest games. If it comes out for that price, it will face an NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti, which, as we already know, will come out with 8GB.
