Spider-Man 2 is finally set to release later this year on October 20, exclusively for PS5 consoles. Anticipation for the game is at an all-time high, considering it is just months away.
Recently, Marvel confirmed the game would have a presence at San Diego Comic-Con. The game has received a new story trailer and more details about a limited edition PS5 console.
Following the story trailer, Spider-Man 2 has become the best-selling PS5 game on Amazon.
Why it matters: The game is still nearly three months away, but anticipation is already high. It is selling better than well-received games like Final Fantasy 16, showing the excitement from the fans.
The story trailer has also led to a surge in sales for Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It has reached the second spot, sitting just behind Insomniac Games’ upcoming title.
The recently released Final Fantasy 16 took the third spot. Recently, Square Enix claimed to be pleased with the game’s sales, and the Amazon ranking provides more evidence for Final Fantasy’s success.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 recently got a story trailer along with new screenshots at San Diego Comic-Con. The trailer delves into the game’s story, focusing on Venom and Peter’s relationships with his family and friends.
The trailer shows an improved facial model for Peter, which fans found quite pleasing after their initial concerns over his facial model changing in Spider-Man Remastered. Characters like Mary Jane have also received new designs.
As stated earlier, a new Spider-Man 2-themed PS5 console was also revealed. The console combines red and venomous black color themes, highlighting the growing symbiote on the console and controller.
Previously, a collector’s edition of the game was announced and went on sale earlier, but it was sold out in minutes and was later found to be resold for up to $530, showing the excitement for the game.
Spider-Man 2 will feature both Miles Morales and Peter Parker as playable characters that can be seamlessly switched in the open world of the game. The map is also larger than the first game and includes Queens and Brooklyn.
