Following the success of souls-like games such as Nioh, Lords of the Fallen is returning after nine years since the release of its first entry.
Boasting large-scale enemies and incredible visuals with Unreal Engine 5, the title has a lot of anticipation from fans of the genre. The developers have recently confirmed another pleasing detail about the game.
In response to a fan on Twitter, the official Lords of the Fallen Twitter account stated that the game will support a 60FPS performance mode across all current-gen consoles, including the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Why it matters: Despite the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S being capable of 60FPS gameplay, many games like Gotham Knights and Redfall can often be locked at 30FPS, facing criticism over it.

The game supporting 60FPS on the Xbox Series S is also surprising, considering that many developers are unable to offer a higher frame rate on the budget console.
Recently, Remnant 2 launched without a 60FPS mode on the Xbox Series S. However, Matt Booty from Xbox has previously claimed performance issues can be avoided if developers plan for the budget hardware.
Since the developer has not provided much detail, it is difficult to predict the resolution target of the performance mode. Like other performance modes, Lords of the Fallen will sacrifice visual fidelity for the improved frame rate.
While a quality mode has not been confirmed either, it is likely to be included. This mode would be best suited to users who prefer visuals over 60FPS gameplay.
An 18-minute gameplay presentation was also shared recently, highlighting the exciting combat and world of Lords of the Fallen. The upcoming title appears to be improving upon its 2014 predecessor in almost every way possible.
The game features two overlapping maps called Axiom and Umbrai, representing the Land of the Living and the Land of the Dead, respectively. Furthermore, it will support co-op and multiplayer elements.
Lords of the Fallen is set to launch on PC and consoles on October 13, adding another exciting option to the growing library of souls-like games.
