GTA 6 Fans Concerned About Having To Wait For PC Release

Hoping For Day One Release On PC!

GTA 6 development is in full swing, and Take-Two has hinted that gamers will be able to enjoy the game in less than two full years.

Rockstar Games is expected to release the game for PS5 and Xbox Series S|X consoles, ditching the last-generation hardware for the most advanced rendition of the popular open-world IP.

However, this would leave out millions of PC gamers at release as Rockstar Games is known to skip the platform for its major titles on day one. Recently, fans took to Reddit, expressing concerns about the studio repeating this pattern for GTA 6.

Why it matters: GTA 6 is arguably the most anticipated product in the gaming industry due to years of speculation and excitement. Rockstar Games has also been working on the game for nearly a decade.

One fan on Reddit made a lighthearted joke about PC players having to wait an additional year for GTA 6.

This would add to the already excruciating wait for GTA 6, while console players would be able to enjoy the game by early 2025 if Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s hints are anything to go by.

Previously, GTA 5 was released in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360. Over a year later, the game made its way to PC in April 2015, with the studio delivering arguably the best version of the game.

Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 took about one year to arrive on PC after its PS4 and Xbox One console counterparts. The studio is expected to follow this trend again for GTA 6, and it appears many PC players have already accepted their fate.

The Reddit thread has received replies from PC players claiming they would invest in consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series S|X to enjoy the game, avoiding spoilers during the launch period.

On the other hand, many are unwilling to invest in another system and claim that Rockstar Games should change its approach to PC ports. One Reddit user said:

“Please no. In this day and age we cannot have a port a year later.”

GTA 5 Rockstar Games

The PC gaming industry has grown exponentially since the release of GTA 5.

Steam reached new heights in 2023, peaking at over 32 million concurrent players this year. This newfound popularity may encourage Rockstar Games to reconsider its strategy with PC ports.

Rockstar Games is also among the few studios known for its high-quality PC ports, and a polished version of GTA 6 for PC would be a breath of fresh air compared to the current state of PC ports.

Nonetheless, fans will have to wait a while before more details are confirmed about GTA 6 and its release platforms.

Only time will tell if GTA 6 will repeat history with a console-exclusive launch, but many fans have already prepared themselves for the worst. Some have already invested in consoles, while others are preparing to buy one alongside the game in 2024 or 2025.
