Nvidia will soon launch Super versions of the RTX 4080, 4070, and 4070 Ti, which will offer better performance for a similar or lower price. Because of the disappointing lineup of Ada Lovelace graphics cards, many users have been waiting for such a refresh.
With AMD graphics cards like the Radeon RX 7800 XT selling quite well, Nvidia plans to use this refresh to continue its dominance in the graphics card market next year, with rumors pointing to an announcement during CES on 8 January.
While CES is just a few months away, a new leak from Moore’s Law is Dead has revealed the price and performance of the GeForce RTX 40 Super lineup.
Why it matters: This is the second Super refresh from Nvidia, highlighting that the company is in desperate need of another edge in the market.
Among the graphics cards, the leak about the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super appears to be the most interesting.
If the report is to be believed, Nvidia is aiming to tackle AMD’s RX 7900 XT, hoping to end its dominance at the $800-900 price range. The company seeks to do so through a performance bump up to 20%.
Compared to its predecessor, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super is expected to include 8,448 CUDA Cores and a 256-bit interface. This should allow it to be quite a bit faster, with the price estimated at around $799 to $849.
Among the other graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 4080 Super is also intriguing. The leak points to a $999 price, with performance slightly above its predecessor, leading to an uplift of around 5-10%.
As for the specifications, this graphics card is rumored to include 10,240 CUDA Cores, a 256-bit bus, GDDR6X at 24 Gbps, and a 320W TDP. While prior rumors suggested Nvidia would bump the memory up to 20 GB, it seems this is not the case.
The more mid-range GeForce RTX 4070 Super is expected to be priced at $600-650, mostly bridging the gap between the two RTX 4070 variants in the vanilla Ada Lovelace lineup.
According to the leak, the GeForce RTX 4070 will also receive a $50 price cut.
Evidently, Nvidia seems motivated to regain goodwill among PC gamers if the leak is to be believed. However, it remains to be seen if these prices will be able to bring the results Nvidia desires.
