Spider-Verse Game Would Be Amazing!

Story Highlights
  • Insomniac Games has been hit with a ransomware attack.
  • Information about unannounced games from the studio has been leaked online as a result of this attack.
  • One leaked screenshot suggests that the developers are working on a potential Spider-Verse game.

Insomniac Games was recently hit with a ransomware attack. Following the attack, information like personal details and confidential projects has been leaked online.

With the studio currently focusing on the development of Marvel’s Wolverine, a few screenshots of the game have been spotted after this attack. More documents have also been spotted online, pointing to a new multidimensional Spider-Man game.

While Insomniac Games has created three Spider-Man games already, the studio may be working on its own version of the Spider-Verse IP.

Why it matters: Both Spider-Verse movies have become fan favorites in no time. This universe would allow new possibilities for a game, making it an exciting prospect.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Venom

As noted by users on Reddit, three unannounced projects from Insomniac Games have been spotted, including Spider-Man 3, RC3, and Spider-Verse.

If RC3 refers to a new Ratchet and Clank game, the first two are not too surprising. Spider-Man 3 has already been teased, and a new Ratchet & Clank game will likely show up at some point after Rift Apart became popular on the PS5.

Therefore, the existence of Spider-Verse on this list has raised a few eyebrows. Fans are excited after this leak, and many have begun to speculate whether Insomniac Games’ multiplayer project could be a co-op Spider-Man game.

When Spider-Man 2 confirmed seamless switching, many expected co-op in the game. They believed that this would be the natural progression for the studio, but it never came to fruition.

The Redditor pointed out that this list only includes games from the studio. However, others also believe that it may be related to a DLC costume or easter egg created by a developer for past or future Spider-Man games.

Despite the exciting possibilities, we advise fans to take this news with a grain of salt since nothing has been confirmed so far. A Spider-Verse game with multiple Spider-Men sounds very enjoyable, in theory, but it remains to be seen if this is what the studio is planning.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

It should also be noted that even if a Spider-Verse game were in development, it wouldn’t be released for many years. The team is currently busy working on Wolverine, which is reportedly targeting a 2025 release date.

The latest entry in the Spider-man franchise has done extremely well, selling over 2.5 million units within the first 24 hours of release and crossing over 5 million sales within two weeks.

It is also one of the highest-rated superhero games at the moment, and we expect better or similar results from future Inomnaic Games projects.
