PlayStation PC Ports Cheap To Produce; Most Only Need Email Approval

Bloodborne PC Port Is Just An Email Away!

Story Highlights
  • Just an email approval is needed for Sony’s PC ports, as seen with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
  • Leaked documents also reveal that PC builds of Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine indeed exist.
  • Fans are hopeful about a potential Bloodborne PC port soon.

New information from Insomniac Games has been leaked today, revealing some surprising details.

Leaked documents from a ransomware attack on the studio reveal that PlayStation PC ports costing less than $30 million for development can get funding with just an email approval.

These ports are also becoming less intensive to create, with the leak stating that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was ported in just five months.

Why it matters: This gives hope to PC gamers looking to play some of the best PlayStation exclusives. Requiring only email approval, games like Bloodborne and Shadow of the Colossus have a high chance of making their way to PC.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

The Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart port, which was well below this cost, went through this straightforward funding process.

Interestingly, the leak also hints at PC versions of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, suggesting possible upcoming releases. More evidence for Marvel’s Wolverine comes from the fact that Marvel’s license for Sony includes PC development.

However, PC players will have to wait for some time before getting their hands on these games, as the optimization process requires a few months. While it appears easy to get funding for these games, the absence of a Bloodborne port raises questions.

Technical challenges might be causing delays, demanding significant effort and funds. Rumors about a PC version of this distinctive FromSoftware title persist, but nothing has come to fruition yet.

Horizon Forbidden West

Still, it is possible that Sony is simply not interested in the game for now.

Leaked documents show that certain PlayStation PC ports are doing well in the market. Horizon Zero Dawn is the top performer, selling over 3 million units, with God of War and Days Gone following closely.

While games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Uncharted Collection failed to generate impressive sales numbers on PC, porting games on the platform would likely contribute to an overall boost in Sony’s sales figures.

Anyhow, the next confirmed PC port is Horizon Forbidden West, slated for release next year. Regardless of what other PlayStation exclusives come to PC, fans are hopeful Sony won’t skip the biggest games.
