GTA 6 Wins Sony’s ‘Most Anticipated Game’ Award 2 Years Before Launch

Already Won Its First Award Before Release!

Story Highlights
  • The GTA 6 reveal trailer broke many records, confirming the unimaginable anticipation for this release.
  • PlayStation has given it the title of Most Anticipated Game of 2024 and Beyond.
  • Various factors have come together to make this release the most anticipated in the modern gaming industry.

Fans have been speculating about the release of GTA 6 for a long time. While Rockstar tried to keep them pleased with GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption 2, a leak in 2022 opened the floodgates for immense anticipation.

Since then, the hype has only gone up. With an official trailer now available on YouTube, fans have demonstrated this excitement through record-breaking viewership.

This type of reception is unheard of, and PlayStation has recognized it with a major award for GTA 6.

Why it matters: The reveal trailer of GTA 6 has become the most liked trailer across games and movies, only falling behind the most prominent music videos on the platform.

During the PlayStation Blog’s latest award distribution, various titles were given different awards based on their qualities. Spider-Man 2 took home Game of the Year, while GTA 6 won the Most Anticipated Game award at PlayStation Blog.

Interestingly, Rockstar’s title made it to the top despite its 2025 release window. While games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Tekken 8, and Rise of the Ronin are coming next year, none could hold a candle to the first Grand Theft Auto in the last ten years.

Judging from the current reactions, it is fair to call GTA 6 the most anticipated game of all time. Therefore, we would not be shocked if next year’s PlayStation Blog picks this release for this award again.

Bold statements like Take-Two claiming Rockstar’s target is perfection and a former developer stating that GTA 6 will look just like the trailer have only added to the buzz.

GTA 6

The game’s open world seems to be pointing toward unprecedented levels of simulation and reactivity, leaving millions of jaws wide open in amazement after the first trailer.

Owing to these strengths, the trailer received 100 million views in just over a day. Keeping all of this in mind, we agree with PlayStation Blog’s choice.

The game will be released in 2025, and we think Rockstar will follow past trends and release it close to the end of the year.

Still, fans can look forward to more groundbreaking trailers in 2024. With the game officially revealed, we are hoping for at least one more trailer next year, even if it does not arrive in the first half of 2024.
