Nintendo Switch 2: 10 Million Units In Production For Launch Fiscal Year

Switch 2 Will Be Easy To Find On Day One!

Story Highlights
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch in late 2024.
  • According to a report, Nintendo is planning to ship 10 million units for the first fiscal year.
  • This should help it avoid a similar fate as the PS5 and Xbox Series X, which were impacted by supply shortages.

A recent report on the Nintendo Switch 2 hinted at a late 2024 launch, with the console including an 8-inch LCD.

Takashi Mochizuki from Bloomberg has another update to share, stating that Nintendo’s shipments indicate around 10 million console units for the Fiscal Year, making it easy for consumers to obtain this upcoming console.

Why it matters: The PS5 and Xbox Series X suffered from chip shortages that lasted several years into their lifespans. This report assures customers that Nintendo will not suffer a similar fate.

While there has been demand for an OLED model for this console, analysis from Omdia indicates that an upgraded model could arrive eventually, but it will not be part of the console this year.

The original Nintendo Switch has currently sold over 132 million units. Therefore, demand for the next console is expected to be humongous on launch day, with millions of existing users returning for the next-gen take on the hybrid hardware.

Elsewhere, a new launch will attract a fairly large audience of newcomers. However, with 10 million orders in place, the gaming giant should be well-equipped to deal with this demand.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will boast various new additions, making it an enticing purchase for Nintendo fans. In addition to DLSS, ray-tracing, and more powerful hardware in general, the console will be bolstered by quality first-party games that Nintendo is best known for.

All of this should be announced in just a few months. A full reveal is expected in March, with Nintendo confirming more details about the hardware, including specifications, at a separate Direct.
