Looks Quite Optimized For An Unreal Engine 5 Title!

Story Highlights
  • Black Myth: Wukong reportedly runs at 1440p/60FPS and 4K/30FPS on PS5.
  • The results sound quite promising for an Unreal Engine 5 title, hinting at an optimized launch.
  • If the PS5 version is well-optimized, we can expect the same for the Xbox and PC versions.

Black Myth: Wukong is one of the year’s most anticipated releases. Despite this excitement, fans are worried that it might be poorly optimized, as it uses Unreal Engine 5.

The engine has become notorious for causing a lot of performance issues, and the same was expected of Game Science’s release. However, according to a new report, Black Myth: Wukong on PS5 is quite well-optimized and runs at 60FPS at 1440p resolution.

Why it matters: Games based on Unreal Engine 5 have always had a few issues. The visuals are stunning, but shader compilation and stuttering issues have always been persistent.

Black Myth: Wukong is one of the most heavily anticipated releases.

According to an insider, the action RPG managed to achieve 60FPS at 1440p and 30FPS at 4K resolutions. This means that, especially on consoles, the game will feature both fidelity and performance modes.

However, the source hasn’t revealed if the resolution is native or upscaled. We wouldn’t be surprised if the action RPG does use upscaling, as that has become a staple for most modern releases. Unreal Engine 5 is also said to be designed around upscaling.

If the optimization on PS5 is as good as claimed, we can expect a similar trend for the Xbox and PC versions. Moreover, PC system requirements hint that Black Myth: Wukong will be easily playable across a wide range of configurations.

Black Myth could be a well-optimized game at launch.

Overall, Black Myth: Wukong seems to be ready to be played across consoles and PC. The game has even suffered a delay on the Xbox Series S|X, which should allow the team more time for further optimization.

The game is just a few weeks away now, so more details should also be coming soon, including reviews and technical breakdowns.
