Story Highlight
  • Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl launched to an impressive 113k players on Steam.
  • The first-person survival horror shooter has impressed everyone with the Steam numbers, as it is also available on Game Pass.
  • While fans are having a blast with it, the game seems to have some performance issues.

Stalker 2, one of the most hyped releases this year, has now finally been released. The game received positive impressions from many critics but some gave it a negative rating due to its brutal and unforgiving nature. However, the fandom seems to enjoying it.

The anticipation before release was through the roof, and due to that, it launched to an overwhelming 113K players on Steam. Its prequel was released to only 2.3k players, so this is a pretty impressive feat.

Why it matters: Stalker 2, despite being available on Game Pass, has launched to massive numbers on Steam, which speaks volumes. This game has proven to be a huge success for the Ukranian developer.

As you can see in the image above, the highly anticipated first-person shooter with survival horror elements launched to 113,587 concurrent players on Steam. Now, do note that many fans might still have not played it as they could be busy during weekdays.

So, a new all-time peak is expected around the weekends. Given the game’s hype, these numbers are not really that surprising. They are impressive, but not surprising.

This is because Stalker 2 was voted the most anticipated game this year, and it was once the most wish-listed game on Steam. That said, while the overall impression seems positive some fans have concerns regarding the performance

Previously, it was revealed that Xbox Series X was having trouble running the game, but those problems have been toned down. There also seem to be some performance issues on PC, mainly due to the game being made on Unreal Engine 5.

Nonetheless, Stalker 2 has been a great success for CSC Game World, and we hope the developer releases some patches as soon as possible to fix all the bugs and performance issues.
