Avowed Promising A Solid 2025 Start for Xbox!

Story Highlight
  • Early previews for Avowed seem really promising and point towards a hit.
  • The game is being hailed as Obsidian Entertainment’s take on The Elder Scrolls.
  • It will release on Xbox Series X|S, and PC with a day 1 launch on Game Pass.

2024 hasn’t been the best of years for Xbox. Although it finally hit record numbers with Call of Duty thanks to the Game Pass launch, the overall releases have been underwhelming. However, Avowed set to release next year is promising a strong start for Xbox in 2025.

Avowed has just received final hands-on previews, and they are extremely positive hinting at an imminent hit for Obsidian Entertainment.

Why it matters: Despite coming from a successful studio that delivered Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds and more, the delays had made the fans skeptical about the game. Its last demo also received negative reviews.

Avowed’s previews point toward a successful title for Xbox

VGC has hailed Avowed as Obsidian’s take on The Elder Scrolls, which undoubtedly is huge praise as the former is one of the most popular franchises in gaming. The game seems to have borrowed a lot of points from other successful titles.

Avowed feels like the stopgap between Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls 6 that fans have longed for.

The combat is very rich and versatile with multiple weapons in your arsenal. You can mix and match them to the build that best suits you. Even the game itself encourages you to experiment with different builds.

The story also has a lot to offer. There are different choices, both big and minor that will shape the plot accordingly. Moreover, side quests are also spread throughout the map and can be really interesting. IGN’s preview calls the overall experience incredibly fun.

There are some shortcomings to the game too as the combat, especially the melee feels a bit clunky. In addition, controlling the companions feels a bit awkward too. However, these aren’t dealbreakers and can easily be fixed with the final version.

Overall, the previews are really good  and Wccftech also calls it something to look forward to. Avowed releases on the Xbox Series X|S and PC on February 18, 2025. It will also be available on Day 1 on the Xbox and PC Game Pass.
