Koei Tecmo has been undergoing a major restructuring. The company now focuses on self-publishing and annual releases. A new report reveals that it is also looking to expand its team as it expects the gaming market to grow. 

Why it matters? Despite huge companies laying off several employees, Koei Tecmo has been one of the few that haven’t laid off anyone. It has increased its workforce in the past and is looking to increase it further.

Koei Tecmo recently held a Q&A briefing for its shareholders to reveal its plans. According to the report, it aims to expand its team from 2500 to 5000 staff members and expects the AAA PC and Console gaming market to grow further. 

The company plans to establish a development framework that will allow them to “steadily produce AAA titles.

The Ninja Gaiden developers stated that the mobile market is already mature and don’t expect it to grow further. Furthermore, new, more powerful hardware will allow the growth of the AAA gaming space. 

Japanese, Korean, and Chinese studios have also had immense success in the last couple of years. With successful releases like Black Myth: Wukong, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Rise of The Ronin, Stellar Blade, and others, the studios are blooming. 

In addition, Koei Tecmo has also found a new AAA gaming studio to expand its lineup. It is currently working on a new unannounced game. Nonetheless, it’ll be really interesting to see what the future holds for the company after all these changes.
