Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the most loved games in the universe. Developed by Bioware back in 2003, the Star Wars action RPG to this date is considered to be a masterpiece.

Last year at the PlayStation showcase, it was announced that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic would be getting a remake for the PlayStation 5. A brief announcement trailer was also showcased though it did not have any release date nor actual gameplay. But it was anticipated that the launch would be somewhere in 2022.

The hype for the remake around the fandom was real until this July; it was revealed that the game’s development had been stopped indefinitely. This reportedly happened after Aspyr, the game’s developers, showcased a game demo to PlayStation that wasn’t up to the mark.

Aspyr put production on pause, but recent news has emerged hinting that a new studio is now in charge of the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Aspyr’s parent company, Saber Interactive, will now handle the game’s development. Embracer Group also revealed that one of its “AAA projects has migrated to another company” has further verified this.

Furthermore, even after the shift of studios, it was rumored that the game might hit a 2022 release date as a much more experienced studio is now on to the job. But, that, unfortunately, won’t be the case, as industry insider Jason Schreier has confirmed in a recent tweet.

Saber Interactive has a track record of developing good-rated games. Their recent Evil Dead: The Game also did quite well. But even if we consider all aspects of development it is safe to say that the game is at least a few years away. And that is not necessarily bad as we are already well aware of what happens to games if their launch is rushed.
