The production of one of the most popular GPUs on steam is reportedly ending. Nvidia is said to have stopped manufacturing the GeForce RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 Super graphics cards.

The GeForce RTX 2060 was launched back in 2019. After its launch, the GeForce RTX 2060 was rebranded two times, once in the year 2020 as the GeForce RTX 2060 Super and later in the year 2021 as GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB.

Aside from the GeForce RTX 2060 Super, which launched to replace the RTX 2070. The RTX 2060 12 GB instead was launched to tackle the GPU shortage issue during the crypto mining boom and helped Nvidia clear out the remaining Turning stock.

Steam Hardware Survey
Steam Hardware Survey – October 2022

The launch of RTX 2060 was quite successful back in 2019 and has taken the spot of the second-best GPU on Steam hardware survey after GTX 1060. On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 2060 Super was not as successful but still made its way on the steam list, coming below the RTX 2070 that it replaced.

According to sources in the Asia Pacific (ChannelGate), Nvidia has stopped supplying GeForce RTX 2060 and 2060 Super chips and has asked its vendors to limit the supply of these cards. The RTX 2060 used to be the cheapest RTX card on the block, which is now being replaced by the RTX 3050 instead. Furthermore, the budget option from the RTX 4000 series will soon make its way to the market.

The GeForce RTX 2060 and 2060 Super will remain on shelves and in the used market until stocks last. Though after the crash of the mining boom, GPU demand has dropped, and so has the pricing. So it’s easy to get your hands on a brand new GPU or snag a good one on the used market.

What are your thoughts on GeForce RTX 2060? Would you still consider it over the GeForce RTX 3050?
