Though October has been full of releases like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Lords of the Fallen, Spider-Man 2, and more, it appears that Alan Wake 2 is another excellent game this month.

As one of the most anticipated titles of the year, Alan Wake 2 is just a day away from its release. Though the last game in the franchise came out over a decade ago, Remedy Entertainment believes the sequel was its most important project.

This emphasis on the franchise has resulted in an incredible release from the studio, with the game securing a score of 89/100 on Metacritic.

Why it matters: This score makes Alan Wake 2 one of the best-rated games of the year despite its underwhelming predecessor.

The critics had a fantastic time playing Alan Wake 2 mainly because of its story. It offers a compelling story that lasts around 20 hours, immersing players in a narrative that combines elements of psychological and survival horror.

Aside from the story, the game has been praised for its gorgeous visuals, which have impressed everyone. Though it asks for hefty PC requirements for all resolutions, early benchmarks show a lot of promise.

The requirements suggested many PCs would struggle to reach 1080p 60FPS, but benchmarks show that upscaling, combined with the high or medium preset, will deliver better results than expected.

With an overwhelmingly positive reception, Alan Wake 2 appears to have been worth the 13-year wait. The developer has delivered more than just a sequel, setting a new foundation for this franchise.

We believe that Alan Wake 2’s reception is the result of Remedy Entertainment’s hard work. This score also makes the title another contender for the Game of the Year award, but it remains to be seen if it will come out on top.
