Also Includes Grappling Hook And Better Stealth!

Story Highlights
  • According to a leak, Assassin’s Creed Red will feature a larger map than Valhalla.
  • The leak also revealed that the game comes with grappling hooks, advanced NPC AI, and better stealth.
  • The release date for the Japanese Assassin’s Creed hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Ubisoft might reveal more news at The Game Awards.

Assassin’s Creed Red is Ubisoft’s take on the franchise in a Japanese setting. Because this setting has been requested for many years, the gaming giant expects it to be the biggest blockbuster of 2024.

While not much is known about the game officially, leaks have revealed details about two playable characters, a samurai and a shinobi. Recently, another leak confirmed the identity of the samurai, claiming that players will assume the role of Yasuke.

Following this report, more leaks have surfaced online, and it appears Assassin’s Creed Red features a more expansive map than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Why it matters: While Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s map is not the biggest in the series, it is only second to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s map. Therefore, the Japanese setting will be quite extensive and allow for more exploration than the last mainline title.

The latest leak comes from j0nathan, a YouTuber who leaked accurate information about Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Considering the size and scope of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, a larger map will already be quite enormous. The leaker suggests this map will feature fewer markers than the recent games, allowing for organic exploration without hand-holding.

Additionally, the leak points to mechanics like a grappling hook. This tool could work like the implementation seen in Sekiro, allowing players to quickly move from one point to another.

Stealth is also expected to play a more impactful role in Assassin’s Creed Red than in recent RPG entries.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The game reportedly incorporates various stances, perhaps taking inspiration from Ghost of Tsushima. These new systems will be complemented by advanced NPC AI, leading to a more engaging experience as players fight against their foes.

We think these leaks sound extremely promising. Ubisoft has the opportunity to redeem itself after ignoring fan requests for a Japanese setting for many years, so the studio has likely put a lot of care and passion into this project.

Nonetheless, Assassin’s Creed Red may show up at The Game Awards next month. With the game supposedly scheduled for 2024, the studio could have a massive presence at this event.
