Also Introducing Destructible Environments!

Ubisoft is expecting big things from the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The studio has devoted more resources than ever to the IP, currently working on 11 games for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, including Assassin’s Creed Red.

Since Assassin’s Creed Mirage has already gone gold, Ubisoft is looking ahead to the IP’s highly-requested adventure in Japan. According to a new report, Assassin’s Creed Red is already fully playable.

Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Red is fulfilling a request fans have had for over a decade, leading to excitement about the franchise heading to Japan.

Assassin's Creed Codename Red Set In Japan

As reported by Insidergaming, more information about Assassin’s Creed Red is expected to arrive during the first few months of 2024.

The game being fully playable already suggests Ubisoft has spent a lot of time on the upcoming release, and this will ensure the studio has several months to polish the experience.

Assassin’s Creed Red is targeting a release for the holidays next year, which is consistent with Ubisoft’s claims of the game launching next year. Still, this release window may be prone to a delay like Ubisoft’s other projects.

While not much is known about Assassin’s Creed Red, leaks suggest it features two playable characters, a male samurai and a female shinobi. According to the report, these characters will play completely differently.

The shinobi is expected to be more agile, and both characters will utilize different traits and weapons for distinct playstyles.

The report further suggests Ubisoft is bringing destructible environments to the Assassin’s Creed franchise. This mechanic is limited to smaller objects to enhance the stealth experience.

The game is expected to take inspiration from the likes of Splinter Cell due to its focus on stealth, and the destruction mechanics will allow players to dynamically interact with obstacles in the environments.

The latest information provides more reasons to be excited about the next Assassin’s Creed release. Fans can also look forward to Assassin’s Creed Mirage releasing in less than a month after Ubisoft recently brought the game’s release date ahead to October 5.
