NVIDIA has recently announced its next-Gen GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards based on Ada Lovelace architecture, including GeForce RTX 4090 24GB, GeForce RTX 4080 16GB, and GeForce RTX 4080 12GB.
Apart from impressive performance over its predecessor where Nvidia claimed GeForce RTX 4090 will perform almost 4x in comparison with GeForce RTX 3090 in DLSS 3.0 and around 2x faster in native resolution. The main concern is the power requirement of these next-Gen graphics cards.
First and foremost is the inclusion of a new 12-pin power connector that will work with next-Gen PCIe 5.0-Compliant ATX 3.0 PSUs, and for current ATX 2.0 power supplies, you need an adapter. After the new power connector, there comes recommended power supply where Nvidia recommends at least 850W for the GeForce TX 4090, 750W for the GeForce RTX 4080 16GB, and 700W for the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB.
But it seems like this requirement will be different for custom variants coming from AIB partners of Nvidia, as now ASUS has updated Recommended PSU table first spotted by @harukaze5719, and the recommended PSUs for the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace Series can be seen below;
Many individuals would need to upgrade their PSUs to power these beasts and make the most of them with these suggested PSUs. From what has been leaked about the NVIDIA RTX 4000 series so far, where GeForce RTX 4090 is touching over 3GHz, it seems like the NVIDIA RTX 4000 series is going to outplay its predecessors by a mile when it comes to performance at the same time at the cost of insane power consumption.
