Fans Glad Starfield Was Delayed To Avoid Launch Like Cyberpunk 2077

A Delayed Game Can Eventually Be Good!

Starfield was announced over five years ago, and the game has faced several delays since then. Last year, it was planned to release by November 2022 but was later delayed to 2023.

Following last year’s announcement, the game was expected to arrive by June 2023. However, it was delayed again, with Bethesda Game Studios announcing a September release date.

Recently, Bethesda fans took to Reddit to discuss these delays. They believe it was a great idea to delay Starfield, potentially avoiding a half-cooked release like Cyberpunk 2077.

Why it matters: The gaming industry is no stranger to half-cooked games. Fans have already included several examples, but the last few years have seen many more instances of poor releases.

I’m so hyped. And i’m glad BGS delayed Starfield to avoid a situation like Anthem, No Mans Sky, Marvels Avengers, Battlefield 2042, Redfall, etc.

The Reddit thread cites various games, including the likes of No Man’s Sky, Battlefield 2042, and Arkane’s Redfall.

However, they also referenced Cyberpunk 2077. This comparison is the most accurate since both games are extremely ambitious RPGs that were in development for several years.

CD Projekt Red and Bethesda Game Studios have also earned a reputation as exceptional RPG developers, leading to plenty of trust and anticipation from the gaming industry.

However, Cyberpunk 2077 bombed in nearly every way possible at launch. It was full of bugs and ran terribly on last-gen consoles. Eventually, the game was removed from PSN, leading to horrible consequences for the studio.

Cyberpunk 2077 has recently made a comeback, but CD Projekt Red developers believe there is still work to be done to restore lost trust. Therefore, Bethesda fans are happy that Starfield was delayed to ensure ample time for development.

While most fans agree with the post, some still believe it is too early to jump to conclusions. One Reddit user wrote:

“I’m hyped as well, but we have no way of knowing it’s not going to be like those other games until it’s actually released.”

Previously, Redfall was criticized for its state at launch. Following a series of negative reviews and fan reception, it quickly became Arkane Studios’ lowest-rated game. However, this may have encouraged Microsoft and Bethesda to take more precautions for Starfield.

To address concerns about a poor launch and bugs, Matt Booty assured fans that Starfield would have the least amount of bugs of all the Bethesda titles. This left many hoping for the most polished release from the developer.

Despite Redfall’s failure, Microsoft appears quite confident about the game. The company’s recent earnings forecasts expect record-breaking revenue in the next quarter.

Nonetheless, only time will tell if the game will separate itself from the disappointing releases of the last few years. With just over a month before release, fans will not have to wait too long to find out.

Due to the immense anticipation around Starfield, various fans have already planned to skip work and school for the game’s release. However, they can only hope their excitement is not ruined by a poor launch.
