CD Projekt Red is one of the best developers in the gaming industry right now. With The Witcher 3, the developer garnered a massive fandom, and it is still waiting for a sequel to this date. However, many were concerned about the developer after Cyberpunk 2077’s release.

Even with a lot of negative feedback, the developer didn’t stop and worked hard to completely earn the fans’ favor back. Now, after redeeming itself, the studio is doing something that might put it in the crosshair. 

CDPR has a program known as Diversity and Inclusion but leaves men out of the scholarship program.  

Why it matters: If a studio is aiming for diversity, then it should give both men and women equal chances at something. 

On the official website of CDPR, there is a whole section on diversity and inclusion. The goal of this program is to achieve diverse teams, inclusive leaders, and equitable processes. However, despite such claims, there is a mentorship program that provides scholarships for only women.

Men are not even invited to that program, which goes against what they are trying to make. We 100% support women in every field, but we believe that each person should be hired based on their skill, not gender. 

Many are criticizing CDPR for this, and this controversy is likely to increase even more. While women deserve to be given a chance, they should be given an equal opportunity to apply for positions as men. That is how diversity should work. 

Recently, Ubisoft also wasn’t allowing men to apply for a mentorship program. A legal analyst declared that the studio was breaking the law by doing this. Due to this, Ubisoft is facing a lot of backlash, and the company’s worth is continuously decreasing. 

Hopefully, CDPR will not get involved with something that is controversial as the developer has a lot of potential. The upcoming games from this developer are highly anticipated as they involve a sequel to The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
