Fuga: Melodies of Steel is a strategic action RPG with various characters with distinct characteristics and skills. It was developed and published by CyberConnect2 and was released in 2021 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The community received the game well with appreciation and positive reviews. The game seems very popular in America as half of the game sales accounts from America despite being a Japanese Origin game. The game was recently added to Xbox Game Pass on 15th September 2022.
It was an interesting move as the CEO of CyberConnect2, Hiroshi Matsuyama, was not in favor of implementing the ‘Subscription Model‘ to their games, according to a statement from him last year.
We cannot deny the recent increase in the Xbox Games Library and the popularity of the Xbox Game Pass, which has caused a boost in the number of people who use monthly subscription models to play games. Xbox Game Pass provides economical rates on an extensive game library.
This exponential growth in the popularity of Xbox Game Pass has affected the viewpoint of many studios regarding subscription-based gaming. CyberConnect2 not only decided to add their latest release to Xbox Game Pass but also plans to launch their next game in line, Fuga 2: Melodies of Steel with Xbox Game Pass. Fuga 2: Melodies of Steel was announced in July 2022 and is set to release sometime in 2023.
CyberConnect2 has realized the potential of increasing demand in subscription-based gaming, and CEO, Hiroshi Matsuyama, has apologized for his contradictory statements about the future of subscription models and video games from last year.

"Anyway, I know that my opinion was wrong to say that 'videogame and subscription model never match', so I withdraw my remark and apologize."

In his apology, he mentioned that this is the right time to implement a subscription model to their games, starting with Fuga Series, which is the right candidate.
Due to the change in CyberConnect2’s opinion about subscription-based gaming, the latest installment in the series was included in the Xbox Game Pass from 15th September 2022. And most probably, the next installment in line, Fuga 2: Melodies of Steel, will follow its predecessor’s footsteps. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
