Dragon Age: The Veilguard Is Allegedly “Super Woke,” Reveals Playtester

Dubbed It As Dragon Age: The Failguard!

Story Highlight
  • A Dragon Age: The Veilguard playtester has revealed that the game is allegedly super woke and full of forced pronouns.
  • The dialogue and the story are reportedly disappointing and the facial animation is like Mass Effect: Andromeda.
  • The feedback of playtesters was seemingly ignored, and remarks about wokeness were not allowed to be conveyed to devs.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has always been veiled by controversy ever since it was officially announced. Whether it’s the new art style or an allegedly woke direction, there’s always been something that has worried gamers about the upcoming sequel. However, all these fears have now seemingly been confirmed with great details, and they were not exaggerated at all.

A playtester has seemingly come forward to talk about the state of the game last year, confirming the “super woke” elements and unnecessary immersion-breaking modern language that makes no sense lore-wise.

Why it matters: If the words of the playtester are anything to go by, we might just have a disaster waiting to happen on our hands. Dragon Age: The Veilguard already appears to be quite different than its beloved predecessors, after all.

YouTube video

As spotted by Twitter user @Pirat_Nation, the prominent Dragon Age YouTuber Nuhre recently invited a playtester for a detailed dialogue who played a 2023 build. The tester—named John—reveals that Dragon Age: The Veilguard leans heavily into the woke territory in its gameplay, but that’s not the only problem. The game’s story and dialogues were also heavily criticized by the playtester.

“I was listening to the dialogue […] and it’s just disappointment after disappointment after disappointment.”

Many important characters in Dragon Age: The Veilguard have seemingly been pushed onto the sidelines, and the facial animations also make characters look quite uglier than we remember in previous games.

Another major thing the interview discusses is that John’s feedback was ignored. All his criticisms—including the mentions of modern woke language—weren’t allowed to be sent to devs.

Do take the rumors with a grain of salt. What do you reckon will be the fate of the controversial Dragon Age entry after it releases? Let us know your opinions in the comments section or discuss them on the official Tech4gamers forum.
