- Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is releasing on June 21.

FromSoftware’s most critically acclaimed title, Elden Ring, after months of anticipation, has finally received a trailer for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
This content expansion arrives on June 21, marking a major step forward for the developer. Unlike past DLC packs, Shadow of the Erdtree is FromSoftware’s biggest and feature-rich DLC.
Why it matters: The DLC comes with a hefty price of $40. However, with the description from the developer, it appears to justify this entry cost.
Following several minutes of new gameplay, Eurogamer reached out to the director for further insights into the expansion. The director confirmed George R.R. Martin’s involvement in this project since it follows the same mythos as the base game.
Additionally, he confirmed that players would have plenty to do in Shadow of the Erdtree. According to past reports, this expansion merges two DLCs to offer over 20 hours of content, which appears to be accurate.
The new content includes dungeons, enemies, weapons, and more. FromSoftware seems to have centered the expansion around Miquella, teasing more exciting moments as players delve into the world of Elden Ring.
The DLC will feature ten new bosses. Meanwhile, eight new weapon categories will be introduced to the game, expanding the arsenal for more intense and drawn-out battles.
FromSoftware also teased difficult boss fights on par with Malenia.
In classic FromSoftware fashion, Shadow of the Erdtree will come with its own poison swamp with enemies hurling poison projectiles.
To further solidify the vastness of this expansion, FromSoftware compared the DLC map to Limgrave. According to the studio, the surface area will be larger than Limgrave, offering various dungeons and points of interest to explore.
In the team’s opinion, all of this should be enough to justify the $40 price tag. However, fans can always choose to wait for discounts and sales.
