Elden Ring was released on 25th February 2022. It took the gaming industry by storm, attracting over 900K viewers on Twitch in 24 hours of its release. It got critical acclaim for its stunning visuals and exploration mechanics, and fans were stunned by the depth Elden Rings offers with its intriguing storyline.
Elden Ring is still the highest-rated game of the year across all platforms on Metacritic. It was revealed that the game sold over 12 million copies worldwide, with over a million copies only in Japan within two weeks of its release. Indeed it was a commercial hit and a huge success for developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco.
Still, it didn’t stop there. Within three months of its release, it surpassed the 16 million sales figure. Recently major companies released their quarterly financial reports, and Kadokawa, FromSoftware’s parent company, reported 1100% of profits thanks to the release of Elden Ring.
Similarly, on 10th November, Bandai Namco released their financial report revealing that the company has made a 148.7% increase in year-on-year profit due to the blockbuster release of Elden Ring.
Furthermore, in a Questions and Answers session whose summary was shared afterward, it was revealed that Elden Ring had sold over 17.5 Million copies worldwide by September 2022. Undoubtedly these numbers are enormous and well worth it for a miraculous game like Elden Ring.
The game got critical acclaim and won the Japan Game Awards 2022. Due to its popularity and reception, it has also been nominated for the Game of The Year Award and secured nominations in 7 categories of The Game Awards 2022.
