1 Million Were Active In Fallout 76 Alone!

Story Highlights
  • Bethesda reports 5 million people were active across various Fallout games in a single day.
  • Fallout 76 saw 1 million players in one day.
  • The game developers and social media team have thanked everyone for the current support.

Fallout’s recent success story is known to everyone at this point. In addition to games like Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 experiencing a new boom on Steam, the entire franchise is exploding globally across all platforms.

Bethesda has just joined the conversation, making the resurgence official. The studio states that 5 million people played Fallout in one day.

Why it matters: Many games are unable to achieve a million players in one day during the excitement at release, let alone several years after launch, making this resurgence a big deal.

The official Fallout social media account has shared the updated player counts.

Fallout 76 seems to be the most impressive of the bunch for now, reaching 1 million players alone. Therefore, about 20% of the total player count came from this once-despised online spin-off of the series.

Meanwhile, games like Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4 contributed to the other 4 million. All three of these games are considered RPG benchmarks in their own right, instantly engaging returning and new players.

Since the entire franchise is available on Game Pass, and this service boasts over 34 million subscribers, most of the recent players likely came from this service in addition to Steam.

Amazon’s TV Adaptation Has Exceeded All Expectations

The Fallout social media team has thanked everyone for their current support. While Bethesda has been unable to offer much new content on this occasion, the studio is keen on delivering a next-gen update for Fallout 4 tomorrow.

According to Nexus Mods, interest in the series is so high that the website is unable to describe traffic volumes. A new post from the website states that people are downloading enough data to amount to two full Skyrim Special Edition installs every second.

This, combined with the praise for Amazon’s TV adaptation, shows just how much success Bethesda has found this month.
