TV Show Doing Wonders For Fallout 76!

Story Highlight
  • Fallout 76 launched in 2018, but the game is going through its most exciting period yet.
  • It has surpassed 50K players for the first time in its six years on Steam.
  • The game is also among Steam’s best-selling games.

Fallout 76 is seemingly unstoppable this month since the game continues to break its own player count record.

For the second time in a week, this online spin-off has reached a new peak concurrent player count. The title has just reached 50K concurrent players in the last 24 hours.

Why it matters: The Fallout TV series has been the best thing to happen to this series in over a decade, marking a new beginning for Bethesda’s RPG IP.

A few days back, Fallout 76 reached a new all-time peak of 39.5K, which was a 2x increase over the previous record.

However, today’s player count is even higher. What makes this interesting is the fact that the last player count was achieved when the game was temporarily free-to-play. At the time, many assumed the influx of players came as a result of the trial.

However, with Fallout 76 no longer available for free, it seems the game has retained the player base. Audiences may have even purchased the game after trying it during the trial, making Bethesda’s approach quite clever.

At the time of writing, over 30K players are active in Fallout 76. With the weekend coming up, we would not be shocked if it reached 100K players at this rate. Needless to say, this is a huge achievement for such an old game.

Evidently, this success is coming from Bethesda’s TV show. The adaptation has been so successful that Amazon has already renewed it for season 2. Meanwhile, other games like Fallout 4 have also benefited from this adaptation.

Fallout 76 is currently in Steam’s top 5 best-selling games. The game is no longer discounted, yet it has retained its position on the list.

This live-service spin-off has come a long way since 2018. Many were shocked at the state of Fallout 76 in 2018, but years of support and updates have led to a thriving community today, with many new players immediately taking a liking to the experience on offer.

Amid the excitement, fans have begun asking for Fallout 5. However, Bethesda has clarified that it needs time to come up with great stuff, and The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently the biggest priority.
