FSR 3 Is The Default Upscaling Tech!

Story Highlight
  • Frostpunk 2 is set for release in July.
  • In an exclusive interview with us, the developers confirmed Nvidia DLSS and Intel XeSS support for launch.
  • The game also supports AMD FSR 3, but the team intends to offer various options.

Frostpunk 2 will be arriving on all major platforms on July 25th. As a sequel to a famous franchise, the game has been subject to anticipation from millions globally, with 2 million wishlists ahead of launch.

11-bit studios has recently launched a beta test for Frostpunk 2, but many players have found the lack of Nvidia DLSS disappointing. Following our interview with the developers, we have confirmation that Nvidia DLSS will be available in the game at launch.

Why it matters: Technologies like DLSS and FSR are the key to playing a game at higher resolution with balanced framerates today, so they are quite important in the industry.

Frostpunk 2 is Likely To Be Even Harder Than Its Predecessor

Speaking to Technical Director Szymon Jabłoński, we learned that the developer aims to provide players with an extensive range of options. This means that both Nvidia DLSS and Intel XeSS will be provided.

We aim to provide players with all available technologies. This includes DLSS and XeSS, which will be accessible upon the game’s release.

This is great news for fans since many have expressed concerns about the game possibly relying on FSR 3 exclusively.

Nvidia has been the leader in upscaling technologies for several years, so the inclusion of DLSS is more than welcome in a major release like Frostpunk 2.

Previously, games like Starfield were criticized for skipping DLSS after partnering with AMD. While Bethesda added it later, 11-bit studios is not repeating this mistake.

Upscaling technologies aside, Frostpunk 2 is receiving plenty of praise for its beta. The game depicts a harsher environment and offers more challenging scenarios.

The developers have also added a Utopia mode that can guide newcomers as it allows players to choose the difficulty mode.

This mode is also available in the beta, so players can try it out and learn the roots early. From what the developer has said, it seems like the game is going to be a good experience for the veterans as well as beginners.

With just over three months before launch, the buzz surrounding Frostpunk 2 continues to grow.
