Also Thinking Of Next Major Entry Without Kojima!

Story Highlight
  •  Konami wants to continue Metal Gear Solid for up to 50 years.
  • These plans involve more remakes, Master Collections, and a potential new entry without Hideo Kojima.
  • Konami wants to ensure the groundwork for this preservation is laid before veteran developers leave the company.

The Metal Gear Solid franchise is headed toward a new beginning. Following last year’s underwhelming Master Collection, the stage is set for the IP’s grand comeback, and Konami intends to use this opportunity to popularize the series again.

With Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake coming up and a new Master Collection already being teased, the publisher clearly has big plans for the series. According to a new interview, the team also wants to preserve Metal Gear Solid for at least a decade.

Why it matters: The IP had been collecting dust for nearly a decade after Hideo Kojima’s departure. Therefore, fans will be glad to see that Konami does not want this to happen again.

The Upcoming Remake Completely Revamps Visuals

Speaking to Famitsu, producer Noriaki Okamura noted that Konami is constantly considering its next move for the series.

While the franchise seems to be in a solid place for now, the publisher must think ahead since Hideo Kojima is no longer involved. As per Noriaki Okamura, the company needs a plan to continue the series for up to five decades.

He emphasized that this must be done now since much of the original talent is still working for Konami. A proper strategy devised by these veterans would give newcomers a headstart and ensure this iconic series continues to thrive.

The Producer emphasized that this is not merely a choice and that Konami needs to do this as soon as possible. He also discussed the idea of remaking the first two entries, something that insiders have already teased in the past.

Moreover, the subject of continuing Metal Gear Solid without Hideo Kojima was discussed. As daunting as the task may appear, it seems the team is considering it.

Despite all these concerns, Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake remains Noriaki Okamura’s biggest focus for the time being. This remake has received solid impressions recently, but Konami has yet to confirm a release date.

Since Silent Hill 2 Remake is also set to launch this year, it seems the next major re-release will arrive next year, making 2025 an even more exciting year than anticipated.
