Larian Studios has emerged as one of the best in the business with Baldur’s Gate 3. Amid Baldur’s Gate 3’s huge success, the studio is moving on from the IP, but it’s already planning a new game.

As shared by CEO Swen Vincke, work on the next game is set to start soon.

Why it matters: The team stated it wants to achieve the ultimate RPG, as Baldur’s Gate 3 still fell short of some things. Whatever the new game is, it’s great to see the team back on a new project.

Larian Studios is holding a summit to discuss how to accelerate the development of its next project. CEO Swen Vincke revealed that the summit aims to plan the company’s approach to the upcoming title.

He further revealed that the team is in high spirits and looks forward to starting a new journey. This is hardly surprising, considering the studio did a fabulous job on Baldur’s Gate 3 and must be heading into the next one with great confidence.

However, Vincke didn’t spill the beans on what exactly Larian Studios is working on. Interestingly, the developer does not have one but two projects in the works. From what we know so far, they aren’t going to be part of the Dungeons and Dragons IP.

As for the ultimate RPG, Larian Studios stated that it wouldn’t be possible before the PlayStation 6 generation. However, Swen Vincke also labelled his next project as the best one to date.

Apart from making great games, the studio has recently criticized the wrongdoings in the industry and even opened positions for laid-off developers. The team believes the key to a successful game is listening to the fans and treating them right.
