The last game in the Mortal Kombat franchise came out in 2019, and over three years later, the franchise is returning with Mortal Kombat 1, which will be available to play for early-access buyers in just a few hours.

Mortal Kombat games are always exciting for audiences, and this excitement has boosted the latest iteration’s current position on Steam, allowing it to reach the list of best-selling games.

Why it matters: The series has always found success among the masses, with Mortal Kombat 11 making over $500 million in profits in three years.

As seen above, Mortal Kombat 1 is currently the second-best-selling title on Steam at the moment, and the game may reach the top spot after the surge in preorders and buyers at release.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently standing at the top position. It has retained this position for over a month after it became the second biggest Steam launch of 2023 and a contender for Game of the Year.
