It is well known that graphics card prices are through the roof, to the point that a well-known NVIDIA partner, MSI, has complained about the GeForce RTX 4080 16GB.
To do this, the company tweeted (now removed) that the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is a better option because it offers a better performance ratio for the price paid.
It is well known that the graphics division of NVIDIA focused on gaming has drastically reduced its income due to the recession, with fewer PCs and hardware being sold than in recent years.
This also affects their partners since GPUs were the first source of income for these brands, even more so in the mining era. Add to that the fact that AMD offers a competitive product, which means lowering the revenue predictions at NVIDIA even further, which is catastrophic. Especially for those brands that are exclusive partners of NVIDIA.
With this social media message, MSI promoted the launch of its custom-designed GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics cards. MSI is not lacking in reason, and the GeForce RTX 4080 16GB is the worst NVIDIA GPU in terms of performance/price. Its sales were frozen after AMD announced the release date for its Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
To enter into context, the cheapest RTX 4080 GPU we have found is the Zotac GeForce RTX 4080 Trinity for $1,349. For reference, the cheapest Radeon RX 7900 XTX is priced at $1,050.
If we focus on the comparison made by MSI, the cheapest GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is priced at $949.90, also from Zotac. This way, we are talking about the GeForce RTX 4080 being 42% more expensive.
Or in other words, you’re paying 42% more for 14% more gaming performance at Full HD resolution. The thing improves slightly up to 19% in a Quad HD resolution, while in the best case, at a 4K solution, the improvement is 26%.
