Minecraft is one of the most popular games ever released. If you are a fan of the franchise, the latest news coming from an industry insider and journalist, Jeff Gerstmann, will undoubtedly brighten your day. Jeff, a founding member of Giant Bomb, recently left it and started his show on Twitch.

While talking about other leaks and stuff in his show, he announced that a new Minecraft RTS game is in development. It will work as a spinoff to the Minecraft series. Further explaining, he said that the game is a secret and has been labeled a secret project by Microsoft, and it is likely that it’s not coming out any time this year. You can watch him talk about the Minecraft leak on his Twitch Show Video Gaming Done Right from 1hr 20 minutes onwards:

Jeff claimed that he had already seen a few images of the game, and it is supposed to be a third-person game where you will command your units to move. If that hints at anything, the much leaked and speculated Minecraft: Age of Blockpires is indeed in development. Jeff Gerstmann stated:

“It seems like it is a real-time strategy game, an RTS of sorts but the difference is you’re controlling a Steve-esque unit on the field and ordering your units around in a third-person view. If you’re taking on Piglins, they’ll still have a story and cut-scenes and other stuff. The report I saw was that a lot of those kinds seemed unfinished; the game’s not done, obviously, it hasn’t even been announced yet.”

The Xbox and Bethesda showcase begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 12th (PDT). The publisher confirmed yesterday that a second showcase would take place on Tuesday, June 14th, at the same hour. We’ll probably see the game Gerstmann claims is in the development at one of those exhibitions if it’s true.

After the expo was canceled for the third year in a row, Microsoft is one of the few big publishers having an event during this E3 season. On June 9th, at Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest showcase, a few games are expected to be unveiled. However, only Microsoft, Capcom, and Devolver Digital have stated that their stream would be available. So, stay tuned for any new updates coming our way.
