Noctua announced the launch of a new exclusive CPU cooler for AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors; NH-L9a-AM5. The new CPU cooler offers a low-profile design, making it ideal for building a powerful gaming or professional compact PC.
According to the company, it’s ideal for the new 65W Ryzen 7000 CPUs, but it’s also capable of taming an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X. Of course, it is limited to a TDP of up to 130W. It won’t do it at a low temperature but operates within a safe range.
It can easily cool the new 7900, 7700 and 7600 CPUs at ultra-quiet speeds and offers plenty of headroom if customers want to push them beyond 65W – in fact, we’ve been running up to 130W on the Ryzen 7950X and 7900X.
Noctua has launched two variants of the low-profile cooler, and one is Chromax, a completely black version. This version is much more visually attractive, and this is because both the aluminum radiator, the copper heat pipes, and the fan come in black.
Although the Noctua design is iconic, combining the silver color of the aluminum and the fan with the “grandmother’s sash” color, on an aesthetic level, it does not match the current hardware configurations chromax.black version.
Thus we came across a cooling system with dimensions 114 x 92 x 37 mm high with the fan already installed (23 mm without fan). Its aluminum radiator is pierced by two 6 mm thick copper heat pipes.
A Noctua NF-A9x14 HS-PWM fan cools the heatsink. This can reach a maximum speed of 2,500 RPM generating an airflow of 57.4 CFM with a maximum sound of 23.6 dBA. On the other hand, thanks to its dimensions, it offers full compatibility with any RAM and graphics card.
The rest of the information of the Noctua NH-L9a-AM5 is completed with an LNA adapter to reduce the speed of the fan and, with it, the sound. We continue with its SecuFirm2 mounting system and the support of no less than six years of warranty.
This new CPU cooler is already available for purchase at a recommended price of $44.90 for the “brown variant” variant, while for $54.90, you can purchase its completely black version. The price difference is very high for a change of color. So it will depend on the budget, and the needs of each user, to opt for one or the other option.
