Persona 6 Reportedly Headed To Xbox Series S|X At Launch

Potentially Skipping PlayStation Exclusivity!

The Persona franchise is among the most influential JRPG titles in the modern era. With multiple main installments and various spinoffs, the franchise offers a large variety of characters and stories.

Rumors have also claimed that Atlus is already busy working on Persona 6. This has led to speculation about potential exclusivity for PlayStation since Persona 5 launched only on PlayStation consoles.

The game later came to Xbox and Nintendo consoles, but a new report suggests Persona 6 will be available on Xbox Series S|X at launch.

Why it matters: Sega owns the Persona IP, and the gaming giant has had a great relationship with Xbox over the last few years. This may motivate Sega to skip exclusivity for the next mainline JRPG release.

During the latest episode of the Xbox Era podcast, Nick Baker said:

“Persona 6 is coming to Xbox day one. That’s the rumor I just heard.”

He added that the source did not say anything about a potential day-one release on Xbox Game Pass.

Recently, it was announced that upcoming releases like Persona 3 Reload would be available on Game Pass at launch. This signified a strong relationship between Xbox and Sega.

However, this is unlikely to motivate the gaming giant to release a major game like Persona 6 on the service. Interestingly, another leaker, Nate the Hate, has suggested that the game would be a timed exclusive to PlayStation, much like Persona 5.

PlayStation has always been keen to sign deals with Japanese game studios like Atlus and Square Enix. Therefore, many had already expected exclusivity for the future of the Persona franchise.

While both leakers have proven to be reliable, the conflicting information suggests that it may be best to wait for official confirmation and take the leaks with a pinch of salt.

Previously, a leaker claimed Persona 6 would be much different from its predecessors. According to the leaker, a new team is leading the project, with plans of integrating various parts of previous games for a unique combination.
