PlayStation has a list of popular games exclusive to the console. From games like God of War to The Last of Us, exclusives have convinced many consumers to buy a PlayStation console. But recently, Sony has started to port a large number of these games to PC.

However, it usually takes a few years for PlayStation games to arrive on PC, and it looks like Sony SIE CEO, Jim Ryan, does not have many plans to change this pattern. This also means that Day-one releases on PC may not happen anytime soon.

Why it matters: With the popularity and reception of PlayStation games on PC, many had hoped that the gaming giant would eventually start to offer their first-party line-up on PC alongside the PlayStation 5 release.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Jim Ryan talked about many things regarding the PlayStation 5, and one of them was about the PlayStation 5 exclusive titles; he stated:

“PlayStation Studios’ main responsibility is to have people enjoy the game experience using the latest PlayStation.

He further described that fans are happy with the exclusives released on PC just after two or three years. Talking about the first-party titles on PC, Jim Ryan said:

“We are increasing the number of PS5-exclusive titles and staggering the release of the PC version.”

“I often have the opportunity to ask game fans for their opinions, and when I ask them about the time lag, they say that selling the PC version two or three years after the release of the PS version is accepted favorably.”

Jim Ryan’s statement about the two to the three-year window also means that games like Ghost of Tsushima, Demon’s Souls Remake, Ratchet, Clank: Rift Apart, and more can potentially be next to arrive on the PC platform.

However, recent releases like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon: Forbidden West may not come until 2024 at the earliest.

Despite the demand, it might be best for Sony to take its time for PC ports, as fans recently criticized the poor launch of The Last of Us Part 1. Nonetheless, fans can still look forward to various PC ports, even if they might not come at the pace that some had hoped for.
