- The PS5 Pro has conquered Amazon’s best-sellers in the video games category.
- Despite its $700 price, the console is selling much better than the Xbox competition.
- Sony’s upcoming hardware has reached the top spots on Amazon in multiple regions.
The PS5 Pro caused plenty of controversy after Sony confirmed its $700 price tag. Shipping without a disc drive and a stand, the hardware marks a new era for console pricing, leading to curiosity about the market’s reception at release.
As Sony gears up for the release on November 7, the PS5 Pro has begun to gain momentum through pre-orders. With less than one month left before release, the console has even outsold Xbox’s offerings on Amazon.
Why it matters: Going by the pre-orders, it seems the vast majority of consumers don’t mind the $700 MSRP.
Looking at Amazon, the PS5 Pro is currently at the third spot in the video game best-sellers category. Bested only by the $10 gift cards from PlayStation and Xbox, this console seems to be headed toward a huge release.
It’s also interesting to note that this is the only piece of hardware in the top 10 best-sellers of the category. Following closely is the standard PS5 in the 12th position, while an Xbox console is nowhere to be seen in the top 50.
According to reports, the PS5 Pro’s position on Amazon is similar in other regions. The console is also no longer available to buy directly from PlayStation since pre-orders have picked up the pace this week.
All things considered, Sony’s new hardware seems to be finding plenty of success early on. Even with a somewhat lackluster launch lineup, the console is in high demand, and things will only get better next year.
In fact, it could be argued that the console will truly come into its own with next-gen titles like GTA 6, Death Stranding 2, and Ghost of Yotei in 2025.
