Sony’s PSVR 2 is a follow-up to the company’s first PlayStation virtual reality headset, which provided a simple and accessible way for PS4 owners to experience virtual reality.

Sony had us wait a long time for this, but we’ve had our first glimpse at the PSVR 2 design. It resembles the original PSVR in appearance, but with rounded edges and a black/white color scheme to match the PS5. Though no launch date has been announced yet, according to Tom’s Hardware its been tipped to launch in 2023 instead of the expected 2022 launch.

Sony announced that some games are already in development along with the PSVR 2 namely Horizon Call of The Mountain from Guerrilla and Firesprite and a few other titles.PlayStation 5 games such as Resident Evil 8 and Gran Turismo 7 will also be getting a PSVR 2 version. The headset will also be backward compatible with its previous generation.

Since Sony’s announcement, various developers have announced games for the PSVR 2 that are currently in development. To be exact more than 14 titles are currently in development from various studios:

Sony also launched a patent that showed the updated controllers for PSVR 2. Though design-wise they looked quite similar to the PSVR 1 but there are certain changes like new straps and other functionality upgrades.

It’ll be interesting to see how well Sony does with this new PSVR 2 because the previous version was not much of a success. But now, with all the announced games and first impressions of the people who have experienced them at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) things are looking good for Sony. We are really excited about and hoping that the PSVR 2 meets our expectations.
