Radeon RX 7900 XTX Prices Went Up In China Following Higher Demand

China Is Moving Toward AMD!

The recent ban on GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards in China has diverted the attention of Chinese retailers to AMD. As a response, they have now increased the price of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX by creating an artificial shortage in the market.

The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is currently the second-best rasterization option in the consumer GPU market. As the best alternative to the GeForce RTX 4090, the graphics card has received the attention of Chinese consumers.

As part of its efforts to limit GPU exports to China, the US imposed a ban on the GeForce RTX 4090. This has led to a shortage and a sharp price hike.

Following this demand, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX has gone up in price. AMD’s flagship GPU is currently desirable for its 24 GB memory, making it better than every other option on the market.

As reported by MyDrivers, the GeForce RTX 4090 is currently being sold for as much as 20,000 yuan. The report states retail channels have spent between 15,000 and 17,000 yuan on the graphics card. For comparison, it was originally priced at 12,999 yuan.

In brief, the US has taken official measures to impede the advancement of artificial intelligence in China by severing the supply of GPUs, a critical component. The US has prohibited the GPU from being exported since this violates the restriction’s terms and conditions.

To counter the ban, Nvidia tried to boost its production and supply to the Chinese market. However, this has been unsuccessful. This situation has been both good and bad for AMD.

While AMD has an opportunity to break into the market after this ban, its own card has fallen victim to higher prices. Still, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX could be on the path to success if AMD capitalizes on the opportunity.
