Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar’s magnum opus from 2018, is still remembered and discussed today. The unique storytelling and character have made this game a memorable experience for almost every person who has played it.
While it does not have the best gameplay and ends up feeling limited at times, the overall package deserves nothing but praise. As the game approaches its sixth anniversary, it has been hailed as gaming’s best sequel in BAFTA Games’ recent poll.
Why it matters: There are still very few games that can rival the visuals, storytelling, and character development portrayed by Rockstar in 2018.

Red Dead Redemption 2 went toe-to-toe with Half-Life 2 in the finale. Both games are considered revolutionary in one way or another, but Rockstar’s latest release eventually came out on top.
This outcome was a result of the game’s current influence since Half-Life 2 is more likely to be picked by older audiences. Still, Red Dead Redemption 2 is more than worthy of such an award.
In 2018, the game was unable to secure Game of the Year. Many fans still believe that it remains to be topped in terms of video game narratives, art direction, the open world, and more.
Therefore, it is fitting to see Red Dead Redemption 2 coming out on top.
Also, we are aware that Rockstar’s latest release is not exactly a sequel. It serves as a prequel to the first game in chronological order, but it was still released as a successor and expanded the franchise.
Therefore, its inclusion in the competition should not be doubted.
Following Take-Two’s latest earnings report, Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered Rockstar’s second best-selling game. It is also positioned as gaming’s 7th best-selling release now, leaving various titles behind.
Fans long to revisit this series with a third entry someday. If recent hints are anything to go by, Red Dead Redemption 3 is only a matter of time.
