Red Dead Redemption Remaster Raises Concerns After Poor GTA Trilogy

Hopefully Rockstar Won't Disappoint Again!

Red Dead Redemption Remaster rumors have picked up the pace over the last few days. First, the game was rated in Korea, and then a reliable insider claimed that a remaster could be announced as early as August.

While this led to waves of excitement across the Red Dead Redemption fanbase, many were also cautious about a potential remaster. The main reason for this caution had to do with the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.

Why it matters: The GTA Trilogy set a bad precedent for Rockstar IP remasters. Many fans are concerned that Red Dead Redemption may face a similar fate if it is remastered.

Fans in the Reddit thread above have discussed their expectations for a remaster of Red Dead Redemption, with many expressing worries about another situation like the GTA remasters.

The GTA Trilogy included iconic Rockstar titles, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, and GTA 3. Despite their appeal and popularity, the games were outsourced to Grove Street Games, which did not work out well.

Upon launch, these games were plagued with bugs and glitches, with many even claiming they were unplayable. One year later, the GTA Trilogy was released on Steam, but it retained many of the bugs from the original release.

Therefore, fans hope Rockstar will not outsource this remaster to avoid another fiasco. Users on other social media platforms have shown similar concerns.

Some fans also claimed Rockstar should remake the game to avoid this situation.

While Rockstar has disappointed with the trilogy, Red Dead Redemption Remaster presents a new opportunity to please the fans. Previous reports claimed that Rockstar shelved a remaster for Red Dead Redemption after the trilogy’s poor reception.

However, the new rating means that work may have resumed with a new direction. Rockstar is reportedly aware of the demand for these games, and the studio no longer works with Grove Street Games.

Therefore, a new developer will likely be in charge of the project.

The Red Dead Redemption franchise has sold over 75 million copies, with over 20 million sales coming from the first game. A remaster would allow millions of PS4, PS5, and PC users to finally enjoy the game while introducing updated visuals and other changes.
