Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Discounted To $700 Amid Discontinuation

Expert Verified By

The fact that Nvidia did not lower the price of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti in response to the release of its Super successor card was unexpected. But discounts were inevitable, and you can now get the original Ti graphics card for as low as $699.

To put things in perspective, it costs the same as the RX 7900 XT and closes the difference in price with the RTX 4070. While the card was originally not received well due to its low performance/dollar ratio and limited 12 GB of VRAM for $799, the new discounted price should put it on the radar of potential new buyers.

RTX 4070 Ti Ventus via Newegg

Currently, Newegg appears to be the primary source of discounted Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti cards, with numerous models priced between $729 and $779.

This does not include the current coupon that reduces the price of MSI Ventus models by an additional $50, making it only $699. Again, that is about $150 more than the RTX 4070 and the same price as the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT.

However, AMD is still ahead of the competition in terms of value for money, as evidenced by the Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU. While the MSRP on both the cards is now similar, the fact that the Red Team offers 20 GB of VRAM makes it a more viable option for future games.

While the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti offers a feature and efficiency advantage, the 7900 XT is still a superior buy. If you want something a little bit better, the RTX 4070 Ti Super is the next option, but it also costs $100 more in the US.

In regards to whether the new RTX 4070 Ti Super variant is a better option than its predecessor, it all depends on the buyer, but the Super variant does not offer much of a performance upgrade.

All things considered, it may be best to wait for next-generation cards. However, for those on the fence about an upgrade, these discounts are quite tempting.
