AMD Zen 4 line-up of processors is set to release later this week, and the Ryzen 7000 processors are shaping up to be quite exciting. With a September 27 release date, the review embargo period is nearly over (26th Sep).
Now, foreign media site sisoftware published benchmarks for the upcoming Ryzen 5 7600x and paints an excellent picture of the future of AMD’s Zen 4 (Raphael) line-up.
As can be seen below in the performance tests, the Ryzen 5 7600X is about 48% faster than Ryzen 5 5600X, but it also has a much higher power consumption.
According to the website’s testing, the Ryzen 5 7600X shows an impressive uplift over its predecessor. The review has used various instruction sets to compare the performance of the processors, and it estimates an improvement of nearly 48% over the last generation.
As seen above, the Ryzen 5 7600X is no slouch. It can also compete with higher-tier Alder Lake parts like the Core i5- 12600K. Compared with its predecessor, Ryzen 5 5600x, the performance also looks impressive but has a higher TDP cost.
The Ryzen 5 5600X was considered a very efficient processor when it was released. But AMD seems to be taking a different route this time, sacrificing efficiency for maximum performance.
Ryzen 5 7600X has a 61% higher power consumption than its predecessor consuming around 142W at max load compared with 88W of Ryzen 5 5600x.
While the launch price has remained consistent across both generations, the Ryzen 5 5600X is much cheaper, selling below $200. This hurts the value proposition of Zen 4 most affordable offering.
The cost of upgrading to Zen 4 is also much higher than prior generations. A new AM5 platform and exclusive DDR5 Ram support will make the Ryzen 5 7600X a more expensive upgrade over the previous jump.
The official Zen 4 launch is just a few days away. More reviews are expected to come out soon, providing information on the upcoming processors.
Intel is also expected to showcase Raptor Lake soon finally. A recent Intel Core i9-13900K PassMark score has also surfaced, setting high expectations for the upcoming generation.
