Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is one of the biggest gaming releases for the franchise. At launch, the title was met with positive reception and incredible sales, cementing it as another one of Respawn Entertainment’s classics.

One year after its launch, the developers decided to release the game on EA Play and Game Pass. This decision has apparently paid off since the title saw a massive 570.4% growth in player counts.

Why it matters: Game Pass is currently the biggest gaming subscription service, allowing millions of players to try both new and older releases at a small monthly cost.

As reported by TrueAchievements, which gathered data from over 2.5 million Xbox accounts, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was sitting at the 127th position on the most played Xbox games before its arrival on the service.

Following its release, the title has now jumped to 20th position as the most-played game on Xbox. Moreover, the player count has gone up by over 5x from last week.

While many titles in the past have seen similar results because of Game Pass, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available across two subscriptions. PlayStation and Steam users can try the title for a similarly cheap price through EA Play.

As such, we would not be shocked if Respawn Entertainment’s latest release saw a similar boost across all platforms. This instance illustrates why Game Pass and subscriptions are so beneficial for older games.

Battlefield 2042 saw a similar boost last year after it joined the subscription.

Meanwhile, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the predecessor, is going through a small resurgence of its own on Steam. While it averaged around 500-600 players until recently, more than 5,000 Steam were active in the game today.

This may have been due to the current interest in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, motivating newcomers to start from the beginning of this series.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is one of the many games available on Game Pass. The service offers hundreds of releases, striking a critical balance between AA, indie, and AAA titles that ensure a large stream of content that is both excellent and varied.

It should be noted that EA’s catalog can only be played through Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass for PC. The basic tier of this service on Xbox consoles does not offer EA Play.
