"The Game Is Alive And Well"

Story Highlights
  • Star Wars KOTOR Remake is still in development and is doing well.
  • Various reports claimed that the development had ceased and the project was dead.
  • Saber Interactive’s CEO has confirmed it’s alive, but we might not see it released any time soon.

Star Wars KOTOR Remake has seen the most problematic development for any game in the industry recently. The title was announced in 2021 with a teaser, making the fans hyped for the project. However, multiple reports hinted that it might have been shelved.

That is not the case, as Saber Interactive’s CEO has confirmed that KOTOR Remake is still alive and is progressing well. This report comes after an insider suggested in November last year that it might be totally dead

Why it matters: Released in 2003, the original KOTOR was a well-received game. So, when the news about cancellation surfaced, fans were disappointed.

Talking to IGN, Saber Interactive Head Matthew Karch revealed that the title is still in development. During their recent split from Embracer Group, Saber took the project with them and is continuing their work on it.

He further stated that Saber Interactive intends to exceed expectations with the project. Following fan reactions to the recent reports, most will be glad that Saber Interactive is continuing development with high aims.

Still, information is limited about the project. Based on Saber Interactive’s recent investors’ call post-Embracer split, it is quite clear that KOTOR Remake isn’t coming out any time soon.

In fact, it’ll be quite some years before we see it resurface.

Nonetheless, it is good to find out the project still lives. Embracer’s acquisition spree wasn’t as fruitful as they expected, and stepping away from them, Saber might do much better work on the KOTOR Remake.

Meanwhile, Star Wars fans already have a lot to look forward to. Because Star Wars Outlaws comes out this year, combined with the new show, The Acolyte, coming out, and the already-released Jedi Survivor, the fandom already has a lot of content to enjoy.
