Starfield Hits New Steam Peak With Over 313K Concurrent Players

Starfield Beats Skyrim's Concurrent Peak!

Bethesda’s first major RPG release after Fallout 4 has been out for a few days. Starfield has sent waves of excitement throughout the gaming industry, reaching over 2 million players in early access across Steam and Xbox platforms.

Phil Spencer has also confirmed that the game peaked at 1 million concurrent players after the full release, while it had peaked at around 234K concurrent players on Steam.

Following this impressive performance, the RPG has reached a new peak on Steam. Starfield’s latest peak has come out to over 313K concurrent players.

Why it matters: This is an impressive number since the title is also available on Game Pass, showing that Bethesda’s modding community and legacy of strong PC support is doing wonders for Starfield.

Starfield has reached under 314K concurrent players in the last 12 hours. At the time of writing, the game continues to have over 200K concurrent players, showing continued interest in Bethesda’s latest RPG release.

Bethesda expected Starfield to be its biggest release to date, and the game appears to have lived up to these expectations. Comparing Steam concurrent player counts, the sci-fi RPG has surpassed Bethesda releases like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

The latest Elder Scrolls game currently has a peak concurrent count of over 287K players, a number that Starfield had almost reached in early access alone.

However, the game falls behind Fallout 4, which has a peak concurrent count of over 472K players.

Apart from Bethesda games, Starfield comfortably beats popular releases like Remnant 2 and Armored Core 6 from 2023 but falls short of the biggest games of the year on Steam, with Hogwarts Legacy and Baldur’s Gate 3 much further ahead.

Nonetheless, Starfield has had a good run so far.

The game is just getting started, as Bethesda has recently confirmed official modding support is headed to the game in 2024, and DLC is also planned for release later down the line.

Meanwhile, Steam has already received plenty of mods, with community members addressing issues and adding options like Nvidia DLSS for more versatility in upscaling technology.
